The RESTORING LANDS AND LIVELIHOODS IN VIETNAM (RESTORE PROJECT) aims at restoring degraded agricultural and forest land, while improving smallholder farmers (SHFs)’ livelihoods through the market-driven promotion of agroforestry and forestry-based sustainable land management practices. The project is also expected to sequester carbon dioxide and generate carbon credits, which will be distributed among the project funder (AstraZeneca), the participating communities and the project leader. Moreover, the project will improve biodiversity and green corridors in the landscape by connecting mixed agricultural crops/trees, buffer zones and enriching core zones of protected areas (special-use forests).SNV Vietnam is now seeking two dynamic and highly motivated the Field Support Officers to support the implementation of the RESTORE project in Son La and Lam Dong Province.Job DescriptionJOB PURPOSEUnder the management of the SNV Project Manager/Deputy Project Manager, the Consultant will be based in Da Lat/Son La office and responsible for helping local government (PPC, DARD, DONRE, DPC, CPCs…), forest owners, key partners and key stakeholders (such as companies, NGOs, development partner agencies etc.); preparing logistics, budget, organizing the field activities as well as brief reports on project activities; working closely with district, commune level and local village communities, private sectors.RESPONSIBILITIES:Field coordinationThe Field Support Officers’ tasks will include providing support to Project coordinators in preparation and implementation of the project activities on the ground, working closely with local communities, government, project partners and key stakeholders (such as provincial governmental units, companies, NGOs, development partner agencies etc.).Establishing and strengthening relationshipsThe candidate will be expected to be actively involved and contributed to strengthen working relationships with key partners to ensure smooth implementation, including with government agencies at provincial, district, and communal levels, as well as with other key partners and stakeholders such as development partners/projects, farmers, smallholders, and local communities.Organising project activities/field workThe Field Support Officer needs to develop detailed implementation plans e.g., for improving knowledge and techniques of tree planting for communities, value chain actors, communes, with target villages or groups of beneficiaries/stakeholders.The Field Support Officer will plan, organise and monitor project activities and field work (such as surveys, interviews, trainings, agricultural-forestry extension, and community development) with local partners and communities on the ground. This will involve basic administrative tasks such as preparing permission letters, identifying venues for workshops/meetings, or other suppliers of goods/services that the project may need in line with relevant SNV procedures and cost norms under guidance by relevant SNV colleagues and Project Manager.Supporting the implementation of project activities/field work such as accompanying consultants, local experts, and other project staff on field visits and, facilitating project events, acting as a resource person for surveys, interviews, meetings, workshops, or other project activities in the field.Accounting, financial management and reportingWork closely with the project assistant and finance department on basic project financial accounting, monitoring, and reporting tasksPrepare reports to project managers on the progress and results of project activities in charge.Technical assistance and other tasksThe project is expected to work closely with DARD and relevant sub-departments such as Forest Protection Department, Agriculture Extension Centre, and experts to:Provide regular supervision and recommendations for the activities implemented by consultants and partners in the provinces.Participate in public-private-producer partnerships for inclusive value chain analysis and development.Contribute to the planning and development of communication products.Preparation of brief reports on project activities.S/he will report on any issues, challenges/risks to the Project Manager.Other tasks as required by the National Project ManagerThere may be other administrative, logistical, or monitoring tasks assigned by the Project Manager for the effective planning, management, implementation and/or monitoring of project activities in the field.QualificationsEducation and Experience:Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, rural development, or similar fieldsAt least 3 years’ experience working in agriculture and rural developmentSpecific working knowledge and professional experience of agroforestry and/or the Central Highlands region will be a distinct advantage.Other requirementsUnderstanding of project implementation, execution, procedures, administrative systems, M&E systems, and finance processesExperience in organizing and deploying field activities such as training, agriculture extension, community development activities.Field work experience with iNGOs is an advantage.Adequate understanding of financial and accounting proceduresAbility to work independently and be a good team player.Good communication skills in English and VietnameseGood computer skills in MS-applications (Word, Excel, Internet, Email, Power Points).Takes initiative and creative in solving problems.Willing to travel to districts and neighboring provinces.Additional InformationContract Duration:8 months employment contract with the possibility of extension based on performance and budget availability.Desired start date:Contingent on donor funding with tentative date 3rd June 2024.Duty station:Son La/Da Lat city with frequent travel to field sites in Son La/Lam Dong province and potentially other field locations in Hanoi and neighboring provinces.HOW TO APPLYJoin our team by applying today!
