- Define and execute the firmware and embedded systems roadmap, ensuring alignment with the companys global R&D strategy and product vision.
- Lead the architecture, optimization, and performance enhancement of firmware for:
- Motor Controllers Focus on Field-Oriented Control (FOC), Brushless DC (BLDC), and Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors (PMSM), including traction inverters.
- Battery Management Systems (BMS) Develop firmware for lithium-ion and next-generation battery technologies.
- Connectivity Modules Oversee integration of 4G/LTE, Bluetooth, CAN, WiFi, LoRa, and Zigbee for seamless communication.
- OTA Update Frameworks Design and implement robust remote diagnostics and software upgrade solutions.
- Ensure firmware meets global EV industry standards for performance, security, and reliability, with a strong emphasis on safety-critical and energy-efficient operations.
- Develop scalable firmware solutions adaptable to multiple two-wheeler models and future product iterations.
- Recruit, mentor, and manage a top-tier firmware engineering team in Ho Chi Minh City, with future expansion into Singapore and Indonesia.
- Foster a culture of technical excellence, ownership, and innovation, driving seamless collaboration across hardware, software, and product teams.
- Establish firmware development best practices, automated testing frameworks, and quality control measures to ensure reliability in global markets.
- Lead the end-to-end firmware development cycle, from gathering requirements to coding, validation, and deployment.
- Collaborate with motor and powertrain engineers to enhance the efficiency and performance of electric drivetrains.
- Develop cybersecurity strategies for firmware authentication, secure boot mechanisms, encryption, and protection against hacking threats.
- Work with manufacturing teams across India, ASEAN, and other R&D centers to ensure firmware is optimized for large-scale production and long-term field reliability.
- Implement and refine functional safety protocols (ISO 26262, IEC 61508).
- Research and integrate emerging technologies, including:
- AI-powered predictive analytics for EV performance and battery life
- Edge computing for real-time vehicle decision-making
- Ultra-low-power firmware for next-generation IoT and connectivity solutions
- Smart range optimization through energy-efficient algorithms
- Stay at the forefront of global trends in EV firmware and embedded software to maintain industry leadership in connectivity, efficiency, and performance.
- 10+ years in embedded firmware development, with at least 5 years in senior leadership (Director/VP level).
- Expertise in C/C++ programming, RTOS, embedded Linux, and bare-metal firmware development.
- Hands-on experience with ARM Cortex-M/A architectures, DSPs, and microcontroller-based embedded systems.
- Strong background in motor control firmware (FOC, PID, BLDC, PMSM) and battery management algorithms (BMS, SoC, SoH estimation).
- In-depth knowledge of wireless communication protocols (Bluetooth, WiFi, 4G/LTE, LoRa, Zigbee, CAN, UART, SPI, I2C).
- Experience leading global firmware teams, preferably in ASEAN, India, or other international markets.
- Solid understanding of functional safety and cybersecurity standards (ISO 26262, IEC 61508, ASPICE).
- Industry experience in automotive, electric mobility, or consumer electronics is a plus.
- Hands-on experience with AI/ML in embedded systems (TinyML, Edge AI).
- Deep understanding of OTA firmware updates and cloud-based integration.
- Knowledge of predictive maintenance and real-time vehicle diagnostics for EVs.
