This role is responsible for managing the pre-production phase, ensuring products meet performance, quality, and functionality standards; collaborating with internal teams and suppliers to improve processes, optimize costs, enhance production capabilities, and deliver products to market on schedule.Job MissionDrive New Balance's product commercialization phase to ensure products meet or exceed product performance and functionality standards.Create an improvement circle by rolling learnings back through Development teams.Major Accountabilities1. Pre-Production OwnershipOwn pre-production phase for Performance & Lifestyle Sportswear, Outerwear, and Field of Play Uniforms categories.Proactively organize and manage daily workflow that adheres to seasonal pre-production calendar milestones.2. Development EngineeringFacilitate tech pack review with suppliers for Strategic Launch styles, ensuring supplier understanding and adherence to NB minimum construction standards.Measure and review proto samples based on submitted tech pack.Conduct Phase Review Reports for Strategic Launch Projects.Set up CCQP for Strategic Launch Projects and eventually for all product categories.3. Development / CommercializationCollaborate with NB Materials, Design, and Development teams to ensure products meet objectives.4. QualityFacilitate pre-shipment quality inspections on all Promo/Athlete production with 100% adherence to specifications.5. Lab Manual ReviewParticipate in seasonal review of NB Lab and Garment Testing Manuals.Benchmark industry standards to ensure raw material and garment construction requirements meet or exceed NB design intentions.6. Process ImprovementCommunicate and implement process improvement plans at both supplier level and internal creation team level.7. Quality CirclePartner with NB Asia Quality Manager to align supplier processes and production capability to deliver first-quality product.Add value during QC investigations to identify root cause, corrective actions, and prevention methods.8. ProjectsLead and/or participate in cross-functional projects from brief stage through pre-production.Develop solutions to drive production efficiency, cost reductions, and product standardization across NB categories.Expand the use of DMAIC Tool through teams.Key CustomersInternal: Material, Product Development, Technical Design, Quality, Sourcing teams.External: Tier 1 vendors, Tier 2 mill & trim suppliers.Measures of SuccessOrganizational development: create an inclusive environment for continuous associate development & growth.Achieve quality levels above set metrics while lowering cost of inspection yearly.Effective use of DMAIC tool.Achieve agreed delivery metric targets.Deliver upon annual goals and objectives.Increase capabilities to meet business needs and identify competitive opportunities.Requirements for SuccessDegree in Manufacturing, Textiles, Apparel Merchandising, or Business Administration.Minimum 7 years experience in end-to-end product development, including: Garment costing, Construction, Fit evaluation, Basic patternmaking.Strong understanding of the development process from concept to commercialization/production.Strong project management, negotiation, and communication skills.Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.Ability to manage complex business issues and multiple projects simultaneously.Strong relationship-building skills with key business partners and cross-functional teams.Ability to perform in a fast-paced, goal-oriented, and time-sensitive environment.Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Visio).Willingness to travel regionally and internationally.
