Our Mission Critical Facilities (MCF) team is internationally recognised for delivering high-performance, resilient and sustainable data centre solutions for hyperscale, colocation and enterprise clients.As Southeast Asia continues to experience rapid digital infrastructure growth, we are strengthening our regional MCF leadership capability and are seeking an experienced Lead Design Manager – Data Centres to drive technical excellence and delivery performance across major developments in APAC.We welcome both international and local candidates. The successful candidate will be based in either Ho Chi Minh City or Jakarta. Given the regional scope of the position, periodic travel between these locations will be required.What will you doAs Lead Design Manager – Data Centres within our Mission Critical Facilities (MCF) team, you will provide technical leadership for multidisciplinary design teams delivering hyperscale and colocation data centre projects across Southeast Asia.Working in close collaboration with the Project Manager, you will be accountable for design quality, engineering coordination, technical risk management and alignment with client requirements across all project phasesThis is a senior technical leadership role requiring strong mission critical expertise, sound engineering judgement and the ability to operate effectively in fast-track project environments.Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical Leadership & Design Authority
  • Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary engineering design teams
  • Safeguard technical integrity, resilience strategy and system redundancy concepts.
  • Challenge and optimise design solutions to improve reliability, constructability and maintainability
  • Ensure compliance with international standards, client technical requirements and local regulations
  • Provide clear technical direction and decision-making throughout all design stages
Multidisciplinary Coordination
  • Define technical design deliverables aligned with project milestones (in collaboration with the Project Manager)
  • Identify and manage technical risks throughout design development
  • Ensure cross-discipline system integration (electrical, mechanical, controls, fire protection, etc.)
  • Lead structured design reviews
Client & Technical Interface
  • Act as primary technical design interface for clients
  • Lead technical workshops and design review meetings
  • Support the Project Manager in responding to technical queries and variations
Digital Delivery Collaboration
  • Collaborate with the BIM Management team to ensure design intent is accurately translated into coordinated models
  • Support design reviews using BIM outputs
  • Ensure technical decisions are properly reflected in the digital environment
Construction & Commissioning Support
  • Provide technical oversight during construction
  • Support RFI resolution and safeguard design intent
  • Coordinate with commissioning teams to ensure system performance objectives are met
Regional Leadership & Development
  • Contribute to the growth of Haskoning’s Mission Critical Facilities presence in APAC
  • Mentor and develop regional engineering talent
  • Drive continuous improvement and knowledge sharing within the global MCF network
You will operate within a multidisciplinary and international environment, collaborating across regional and global teams to deliver complex data centre projects.   • Holds a Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
  • 10+ years of experience in multidisciplinary design and project delivery
  • Proven experience delivering mission critical facilities, ideally hyperscale or colocation data centres
  • Demonstrated leadership of complex, multi-disciplined engineering teams
  • Strong knowledge of redundancy principles and resilience strategies
  • Experience operating in fast-track construction environments
  • Demonstrates excellent communication skills towards colleagues and clients, and is fluent in English
